Music

As of September 19, 2021, for safety’s sake, we will not be singing as a congregation for the time being. Any hymn sung by a soloist, will be sung from at least fifteen feet away, or hymns may be hummed.

Music has long been an important and valued component of our worship as a congregation.

We strive to make our music participatory by including responses that are sung by the congregation at various points in the Sunday worship service. Our choir is voluntary, and all are welcome at any time to join in—rehearsals are held on Sunday mornings at 9:00 a.m. prior to worship—just show up!

The choir sings from mid-September through late June each year. We have a wonderful old organ, as well as a piano, and occasionally members of the congregation offer their talents on other instruments such as guitar, flute, or clarinet. Small drums and other hand-held percussion instruments are available to use with the livelier responses during worship. Our love of music has led to our church hosting Jazz in the Square and other community concerts.
